In One Paragraph

Vivostat A/S is a Danish biotechnology company manufacturing the Vivostat® autologous fibrin-sealant system. The product family covers Vivostat® PRF (platelet-rich fibrin), Vivostat® fibrin sealant (for haemostasis and tissue adhesion), and Vivostat® ArthroZheal® (formulated for arthroscopic applications including meniscal repair). All variants are prepared at the point of care from the patient's own blood. Available in Cyprus on a private-pay or hospital-procurement basis.

Overview

Vivostat A/S is a Danish biotechnology company based in Allerød, in the Medicon Valley north of Copenhagen. Founded in 2001 by a group of Danish researchers with one objective: a simple, fully automated way to prepare fibrin sealant on-site from the patient's own blood.

The Vivostat® system is the world's first and only fully automated system for on-site preparation of autologous concentrated fibrin sealant and autologous platelet-rich fibrin. The technology has been in continuous clinical use for more than two decades across cardiac, thoracic, orthopaedic, neurosurgical, and wound-care applications.

More than 95% of Vivostat output is exported, with a particularly deep European installed base in surgical haemostasis and tissue augmentation.

Technology focus

The Vivostat® system processes the patient's own blood at the point of care in a closed system. No donor pooling, no off-bench transfer steps, no pooled-plasma disease-transmission risk.

100% autologous. Fibrin is prepared from a single blood draw taken from the patient on the operating table. Nothing else is added to the sealant.

Closed-system processing. The blood travels through the device along a single sterile pathway. Output is ready to spray or apply directly at the surgical site.

Co-delivery capability. The system supports optional mixing of stem cells, growth factors, or drugs with the fibrin at the point of delivery. The clinical implication is that the same device that seals the surgical field can also deliver a biologic payload to that field in a single step.

Three formulations from one device. Vivostat® PRF for platelet-rich fibrin applications. Vivostat® fibrin sealant for haemostasis and tissue adhesion. Vivostat® ArthroZheal® for arthroscopic applications, including meniscal repair.

GESY in Cyprus

Vivostat® is available in Cyprus on a private-pay or hospital-procurement basis through OrganoGEN. Contact OrganoGEN for its current GESY status.

Partnership with OrganoGEN

OrganoGEN is the authorized Vivostat distributor in Cyprus. We position Vivostat® on two clinical axes.

On the orthopaedic and trauma side, Vivostat® pairs with SmartBone® for trauma and reconstructive cases. The graft fills the bone defect, the autologous fibrin sealant manages haemostasis and tissue augmentation in the same surgical field.

On the arthroscopy side, Vivostat® ArthroZheal® is the meniscal-repair biologic that pairs with the AUXILOCK® arthroscopy system. Skarpas et al. 2024 (PubMed 38723241) is the published evidence anchor for the indication.
